Celebrating our rich industrial heritage with displays including the worlds largest collection of Raleigh Bicycles, Raleigh motorcycles and mopeds and Raleigh Safety Seven cars, WWI Army Camp, British Speed Trials, Robin Hood, etc.

These amazing iconic buildings play host to many concerts, shows and events and include an industrial and mining heritage museum.

This truly unique museum tour explores mining, military history with extensive displays, renewable energy and the industrial heritage of Nottinghamshire including the largest Raleigh collection in the world featuring, bicycles, motorcycles and cars.


Ideal for groups such as U3A, church groups, Women's Institute, men's clubs, Scouts, Rotary, Round table and business team building.


Raleigh.

Over 50 bicycles from all era's and mopeds, motorcycles and cars all made in Nottingham. The museum has the largest collection in the world including a Karryall, 2 Safety sevens and a LDV (Light Delivery vehicle). Even have a Penny farthing made in Beeston by Humber.


Industrial.

Tributes are paid to all sorts of Nottinghamshire inventions such as the worlds first tarmac road, the invention of traffic lights, shin pads, the MRI scanner, the home video recorder, the vertical take off jet, Ibuprofen, mine layer etc etc. Most of which have full size exhibits.


Science.

Apparatus on site offers guests hands on experiences of basic engineering principles such as fulcrum, block and pulley and class 1 and 2 levers. We have safe and tested equipment on site to provide a real life learning experience.


Military.

Guests will be guided through our full collection of military vehicles, artillery and reference material, hands on experience can include sitting in the driving seat of a tank or taking a ride around our field in a Jeep.


Mining.

The tour can concentrate on the mining history of the site where 1 million tons of coal were extracted each year and 1300 men worked on a 3 shift rota. The machinery is still in-situ that operated 24/7, some from 1922 and other equipment that was used until 2003.


Future energy.

Equipment on site is used to demonstrate how we now produce energy in the absence of coal, we have exercise bikes that produce energy, a hand powered washing machine, solar panels and wind generators in addition to walls full of reference material such as pictures of battery farms and solar farms. Our re-newables display includes battery chemistry such as solid state batteries.


Tour details.

We have with the capacity to deliver the same experience for a maximum of 40 people per tour. The tours take approximately 1 hour and can be extended to include classroom activities or refreshments. Prices and details below.



GUIDED TOURS


EVERY FRIDAY at 11:00 from the start of March to the end of October.


Run by volunteers, all monies raised go direct to buying materials for continual restoration of the buildings.


£8.00 per person. Under 10's £4


GROUP BOOKINGS - All dates available on request.


Ideal for educational school trips, youth groups, clubs, U3A, corporate events and more.

For school trips there is a special concessionary rate of £5.00 per person.
